My 2 year old toddler says I love you

Six years ago we published this blog. It says so much let’s read again! my 2 year old says I love You.

2 year old says I Love you

(from our guest blogger, my daughter Gabrielle)

Now it’s official.  Gogo [that’s what my 2 year old toddler calls her Grandma] came for a visit. It was a short visit.  I couldn’t believe my toddler Lolo, had so much ways to express herself. She says I love you over and over!

Lolo welcomed her grandmother and told her she missed her and shared all the things she had missed while she was gone. She showed her her toys new and old. She told her where she had gone while she was away. She told her her hair looked nice. I know two years old and a real chatterbox. The excitement was real and it was as if she had to do it over and over again.

Making sure she is real and permanent

I don’t know if you heard of object permanence as one thing you notice in the growth of the toddler from infant to toddler. But I had heard about it and I saw it happening right before my eyes. The only important person now was Grandma. She knew she was here the first day but almost like a coping mechanism, when she went to sleep she woke up and never once went straight to Gogo’s room or called to her in the morning.  It wasn’t that she forgot she was there. She just had to make sure that she was permanent.

So I would have to deliberately mention Gogo and send Lolo to seek her out and EVERY single morning while she was here Lolo would be surprised and happy. ALL OVER AGAIN she was glad to see her and say I love you. She had to see her and talk and play with her.

But even more interesting was “The Goodbye”, she sat with her and said nothing. They say this is the “Indigo” in her. This 2 year old toddler sat, and they talked by energy and feeling and when it was time to leave she just sat and stayed with me and let her Gogo, go. Wow! How intense can a two year old toddler get!?!
