I AM A 1956 CHEVY [A Children’s Tale]

By Professor Alan Dale Dickinson

The opening picture says it all!! That beautiful ‘green’ color which I do not think they have successfully brought into this century..oooh.

It’s not just a children’s book. It’s recognition of a time past! And because of this it becomes a book that should be a part of your home library that everyone enjoys!!  It’s written in simple language with some references which might need explaining to the young ones. He surrounds the cars with beautifully-named people and animals like Betsy the Pink Teddy Bear and The Peanut Man Alan.

I think “I am a 1956 Chevy” will appeal to young boys (or car-loving girls),

Full of great photos of the time. Especially if you can’t make the antique car shows near you. This I Am a 1965 Chevy reminisces about people, shows, TV shows, food all from those years. Professor Dickinson uses the stories to remind children of the message in those shows and gives kids the chance to chat about life with their parents/caregivers.  Do you remember Mr. ED the talking horse or Knight Rider or Herbie the Love Bug? Riding around in one of his Chevy’s, the stories are great, well done and entertaining. And as I said before the pictures are unique.

As Professor Dickinson points out in the epilogue “It is intended to make your kids laugh and teach them some good habits, such as being good kids, staying out of trouble, avoiding kids who are mean to you, and so forth.”

I am a 1956 Chevy” is a tribute to CARS. Particularly, TALKING cars. Their views, their lives the shows about them (lots of details).  Although he says it is a kid’s book, I think he knows that the other older persons reading this will see it as something enjoyable. Maybe there are too many blank pages towards the end but that’s just editing. Enjoy yourself!! My Reedsy link http://bit.ly/47EvR28
