Recently I learnt how important it is to the disabled community it was to get things right
It is so easy to hurt someone unintentionally as happened in my case
I was convinced some years ago by a disabled person in academia that the spelling was important and I should encase the “dis” in (). So it would read (ds)Abled so that the emphasis is on the fact that one is still very very able.
It appears that this thought was not the thought of people today.
. As was pointed out who am I to even have a thought about how the words were spelled
I respect this.
An Apology
Please consider this post an apology to the disabled community and I hope that whoever reads it sees that I am sincere in that apology
Disability I know little about.
Right now I am in the process of publishing a new book on parenting for all Moms. The Title is Rockstar Moms and I hope it will be read by all Moms. Maybe you will see the cover reveal. Different people ask me to write about different things.
I point out that it is the first in a series. I want to include in the second book a section that relates to disability.Today I decided to write about this topic focusing on disabled Moms. I am hoping and inviting anyone who is disabled who would do me the honor of partnering with me to write this section in Book #2 to please contact me. I am quite serious. I need the help to write this meaningfully. Perhaps we need more in the media around the successes.
