In fact, recent census data in the United States show that most single parents with children under 18 are supervised by mothers (8.5 million), while the OECD confirms that a large percentage of single fathers (2.6 million to be precise) raise children alone.

1 Single Moms & Dads Work on their Own

Like all parents, single parents feel healthiest when they know that their children respect and obey them. Single fathers who are afraid of losing the affection of their children, orsingle mothers who are tired of working as executors, however, find it difficult to exercise their parental authority on their own. Secondly, parents without custody want to make every precious minute they spend with their children as enjoyable as possible.
There is a lot of controversy over the appropriate way to discipline young kids. Parents are often confused about how to best communicate boundaries and teach self-control to their children. Disagreements between parents over parenting techniques and cultural differences between parents can lead to conflicting disciplinary methods.

2. Separation or other reasons

If you are a single parent after a recent separation, you may find your child’s behavior challenging. It is difficult to abide by rules and boundaries when you are a single parent. You are already tired and stressed because your children’s behavior is challenging.
The reason for being a single parent can range from divorce and separation to family disasters and personal choice. Each reason brings its own challenges as the kind of resources at hand are different.
Children with one parent are just like other children if they have a nourishing, warm, sensitive, responsive and flexible parent.

3. It is exhausting and time consuming

Hard discipline such as humiliation, verbal abuse, shouting and abuse make it difficult for a child to respect and trust parents. If parents do not abide by the rules and consequences they impose on their children, there will probably be none. Disagreements in the application of discipline do not help a child to respect himself or his parents. Using a list of rules is helpful and you can discuss various options.
Even if you are a warm and nurturing parent, harsh verbal discipline can have a negative impact on the behavior and mental health of your children. Hard verbal discipline for young kids from parents who are less warm-hearted and loving and can lead to more misconduct and mental health problems.


Preschool-age children are still learning appropriate behavior, so expect them to continue testing the boundaries of parents and siblings. For children of all ages and ages, discipline is a natural consequence. For all children of all ages and ages, discipline can be a natural consequence.

As a single parent, your positive attitude, strength and determination will set an example to your child that will last a lifetime. As you discipline in a respectful way they will grown reflecting this.
