Single Moms under pressure
Are we always under extreme pressure! well it feels so anyway. Especially when you have a little one between 3-8 years of age. The thing is the preschooler is full of enthusiasm for life. The things she or he is doing comes from a natural inclination to learn about the world. We got to be careful not to allow that pressure to boil over unto them. ‘Don’t’ can become an overused word! Stop! another overused word.
Sometimes you would be surprised if you just sat down and talked about what you were feeling with that little tyke. He or she won’t understand a word but they will feel the warmth that you have for them as you sit close by or hold them letting them know you are going through a difficult time. Surprising eh! Try it.
And as you begin to let go of some of the frustrations you can take part in what she or he originally had in mind to do. Immersing yourself in their activity lessens the feelings you might be having of why am I here or what the heck am I going to do now. Stay with them for that moment . It’s their right. And as you both weather the storm you will be close enough to enjoy the calm.
A word to single Moms under pressure. Always ask for help! The resources are there as limited as they might seem. And there are many of us who are willing to help if asked. Never mind how peculiar the need might seem, there is someone to assist.
You know I thought of single Moms when I saw this mother bird sitting in a field in Stoufville. She was all alone but doing what she was supposed to do. Reminded me of the determination or the purposefulness of the single Mum.
This arctlie went ahead and made my day.
